Jon “Huggy” Huggins – Airshow Announcer & Ringmaster

Pre Reno Download 297On the mic, in his third year at Catalina, will be Jon Huggins. No stranger to airshows, Huggy has spent his ‘spare’ time the past 25+ years hanging around airshows as a flying performer, static display, and all-around aircraft bum. His interests include not only the popular civilian and military airplanes currently on the airshow circuit, but also the many spectacular classic warbirds and experimental aircraft flying today. In 2007 he decided to put his knowledge to use and started announcing airshows on the West Coast – receiving great reviews from the general public and seasoned performers alike.

Last week, Huggy retired from the military, where he was a USAF U-2 and T-38 Instructor Pilot in the 1st Reconnaissance Squadron at Beale AFB, and was one of only seven U-2 interview pilots.

Huggy is an Air Force Command Pilot with over 7000 military pilot hours and 4100 flights. He was only the 4th person in history to achieve 2500 hours in the U-2 while on active duty, and has had the opportunity to fly over 95 different military and civilian aircraft.

As an aviation enthusiast, Huggy enjoys learning the history of just about anything aviation related, and loves to hear the personal stories of all pilots, famous or not. The breadth and depth of his aviation knowledge comes out on the microphone, and gives the crowd a unique insight to the spectacle in front of them.

Donna Flynn – Air Boss

DonnaFlynnDonna Flynn started in aviation when she obtained her private license in the winter of 1987. She soon followed with a commercial license in 1989. While working through her licenses she caught the airshow bug while volunteering at the Vanderhoof International Airshow. Working on the flight operations side of the show, she was involved in other interesting projects including Joann Osterud’s inverted flight records. This kept her busy in central and northern B.C. until 1998 when she started an airshow based business and in 2000 she made the move to Vancouver, B.C.

Along with another partner, she started Showline Airshow Services Ltd., which specializes in the Air Bossing and Flight Operations of an air event. Soon after she took over the business completely and during a typical show season she will work anywhere from 8 to 10 airshow events.

Donna has completed over 315 show and media days at over 35 sites in Canada and the United States. She has worked with all the North American jet and skydiving teams. Some of her show sites include the Catalina Air Show, San Francisco’s Fleet Week, Saskatoon’s famous Veteran event, The Canada Remembers Air Show, Niagara Falls, ON, Fort St. John, BC, Peace River, AB, Vandenburg AFB, CA and Klamath Falls, OR.
